The (key of) awesome folks at Barely Political made a hilarious video during VidCon about “Troly-Poly” -- the best YouTube troll ever. A gaggle of YouTube weblebrities appear in this “documentary” talking about why Troly-Poly’s negative comments are so important to YouTube. People like Alphacat, Phillip DeFranco/Sxephil, Tay Zonday, Suburban Homeboy, iJustine, Michael Buckley/What the Buck, Meekakitty… and… wait a second… is that a Black Nerd I see before me? That’s right, I’m in the video, too! Woo hoo! Look at that black guy and his face.
I’M NOMINATED FOR AN AWARD! Black Nerd Comedy is a finalist for “Best Gaming or Comics Blog” for the 2010 Black Weblog Awards. Go to http://bit.ly/a4dfQB to vote for me! Votings ends Aug 31st. You only need to vote once. http://www.blackweblogawards.com
Also, a lot of people have been complimenting my work and asking if I will continue to make videos on a consistent basis. That question is answered -- in a BIG way -- in this video.
I highlight new features of http://BlackNerdComedy.com: The ability to register/login with a Facebook account and the ability to create your own avatar or select one from Facebook or Twitter (Gravatar still works as well). And I get excited for Power Morphicon, being held in Pasadena CA Aug 27-29. http://www.officialpowermorphicon.com
Black Nerd Comedy celebrates its 50th video on the main YouTube channel. And what better way to celebrate than a video of me dancing at the Just Dance 2 booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Watch me get my groove on with this upcoming Nintendo Wii game while a crowd of Comic-Con goers watch and cheer on. There will be more Black Nerd at Comic-Con videos coming, so stay tuned.
Last weekend, I attended Vidcon 2010, a convention for YouTube celebrities (or YouTubers) and their fans. While there, I ran into Mark Day, who heads up the Comedy portion of YouTube as well as has an awesome YouTube page himself. He is Scottish, so he thought it would be fun to challenge fellow YouTubers to do their “best” Scottish accent. Notice the “best” is in quotes.
Other stories have been so inspiring, I decided to do one too. Here is my YouTube story, where I talk about how I started on YouTube and earned the rank of “C-Level Weblebrity.” Happy 5th Birthday/Anniversary, YouTube! http://YouTube.com/FiveYear
It officially went over 100,000 views this past Saturday night, April 10, 2010. I was going to see Upright Citizens Arcade starring “Keith Apicary” at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles when I checked my cell phone and saw the news on the views. And how’s this for awesome? When finding out about the honor, I was actually with Rob Welkner of Coin-Op TVwho makes a cameo appearance in the video, and Roger Barr, creator and star of Doc Mock’s Movie Mausoleumwhere I performed the song live. What a celebration!
