Streamy Noms for Coin-Op TV and RadNerd

This morning, the Streamy Award nominations were announced. The Streamys are awards given to the best in web television programming. And two of my favorite live shows, Coin-Op TV Live and The RadNerd Show have been nominated for Best Live Production in a Web Series. Congratulations to both shows! That’s amazing!

One might ask why did these two awesome shows get nominated. Is it because they have great and engaging topics and guests? Is it because of the wonderful hosts like Rob Welkner, Hailey Bright, Beau Ryan or Leo Comacho? Nope. I know the true reason why they got nominated.

It’s because I have been on both shows.

Let’s face facts, people. I have been on both of these shows in 2009 and they get nominated. I haven’t been on any other theStream.tv shows in 2009, no nomination. (I was on Doc Mock in 2010, so get ready for your nomination next year).

Honestly, both of these shows worked really hard to put out great material and get recognized and they totally deserve the nominations. I couldn’t be happier for such great web hosts and great friends. Thanks for letting me be a small part of your awesomeness… or dare I say, radness?

Learn Black History with Family Matters

As Black History Month comes to a close, for some reason a classic episode of Family Matters popped into my head. In the episode, Laura Winslow starts a petition to try to get an African-American History class in her school. All goes well until someone spray paints the N word on Laura’s locker.

Wait, WHAT???

Yes, the show that gave us the Urkel Dance and Urkelbot, also gave us a compelling case of racial injustice. It’s a very special episode of Family Matters.

I guess the reason why I love this episode is because I actually learned a lot from it. I learned black people helped design the blueprint for Washington D.C., performed the first open heart surgery, invented the golf tee and even wrote The Three Musketeers! The more you know.

This episode also had a segment where Jaleel White showed he could play basketball (this was before the entire episode where he played basketball). Which was weird. In the same episode where you’re trying to advance black culture, you have to show that even the black nerd has basketball skills. Oh well.

And I just can’t help but be amazed that the N word is seen on an episode of Family Matters. Especially since years later, on an episode of Strangers with Candy, Jeri Blank is accused of spray painting the N word on a wall in the school. But in the shots, someone is always standing in front of it, so you never see the word. So you mean to tell me that the incredibly (funny but) offensive Strangers with Candy can’t show the N word, but TGIF staple Family Matters can? Weird.

Happy Black History Month everybody. Enjoy getting drunk in March for St. Patrick’s Day. I think there’s a Family Matters episode for that, too.

Shortly after my Lost and Heroes Hate Black People video for Comedy.com hit the viral scene, major blogs have been picking it up. One of the most major is Deadline Hollywood, a very popular entertainment blog. Nikki Finke was gracious enough to share some of her blogospace for my nerdy rant. And Nikki, Miss Finke if you nasty, I thank you for that.

But of course, there’s already haters in the comments! I see a couple of comments calling me “pointless” and bashing the fact that I’m talking about black actors getting work. I’m all for black actors getting work! Also… IT’S A FRAKKIN’ JOKE PEOPLE! I’m a frequent Heroes follower (though I need to catch up on last volume and a half) and I’m a true Lostie if you ever saw one (What sickness does Claire and Sayid have? I wanna know!) So take a chill pill, haters. Man, it’s like my Charles Barkley rant all over again.

Note to self: Apparently, Black Nerd rants get people riled up. May have to continue these…

Apple Apparently Never Watched MADtv

Today, Apple announced the iPad, a tablet for $499 (seriously?) that allows you to do everything your iPod and iPhone does… but with a bigger screen! I’m sorry, but in the days of cell phones, netbooks and Kindles, this just looks like another quirky piece of technology to make hipsters spend their money on something else besides checkerboard-designed hats, unnecessary scarfs and ironic Sesame Street t-shirts from Urban Outfitters.

And the name is really ticking women off. Jokes are already flying across the Internet about the name. And from this video, you’ll see that Apple apprently never watched MADtv. It’s one thing for someone to make a joke about you, it’s another thing to follow the joke… AFTER IT’S BEEN MADE.

The idiot (in a good way) folks over at Idiot Parade TV made this funny video for DipDive.com, run by the Black Eyed Peas. It’s a hilarious spoof of Sarah McLachlan’s ASPCA campaign. But instead of cats and dogs, it’s cheating men. Look for a black nerd in the spot with some awesome mouth gear (also look for an awesome Tiger-ish fellow).

And the good (in a really good way) folks at Idiot Parade TV plan to donate half of the ad revenue on this video to Haiti relief. “Save the Children” to be exact. So get a good laugh and help a good cause. Plus, it’s co-created by Laura Youngman, a woman so royal you could call her a “Princess.”

For MLK Day (or Martin Luther King Day for abbreviation-haters) Comedy.com hand-picked The 10 Funniest African-American Comics You’ve Never Heard Of. It’s basically a list of funny black comics whose last names aren’t Pryor, Murphy, Rock, Chappelle or Morgan.

I felt pretty proud of myself because I knew most of the comedians, but I especially a certain black and – let’s say – “nerdy” comedian that made the list.

MOVIE MOB: Thanks for the Memories

In case you’ve heard the rumors, yes it is true. Movie Mob is officially cancelled. The show had a good run, and I personally had a great run, having been on the show for a year and a half (including over 52 weeks of avoiding being voted off before that feature was removed from the program). As of the official cancellation, I was #2 in longest amount of time on the show (after those adorable BritTwins).

While I am sure I will be seeing movies on a regular basis, I will definitely miss bringing my “home-grown” reviews to your home every week. Movie Mob and ReelzChannel gave me a great opportunity to display my Black Nerd-like nature to cable subscribers’ homes. From answering Sara Fletcher, Tory Shulman and Travis Oscarson’s crazy questions to making movie-related spoofs, I had a blast for a year and a half.

Movie Mob also gave me the opportunity to meet such wonderful other Mobsters, many of them are now official friends. I already knew HappilyEverAfter (who introduced me to the show) and the BritTwins before (and a couple others, but I don’t remember their Mob names), but it was great to be on a show with them. I met fellow YouTuber MakeMeBad(35) on the show, and got to experience how the 3Yutes can make the ReelzChannel sensors work overtime. Robin and Boy Wonder, oh my gosh, there are no words. Those two were a blast. I loved how they gave their real reviews (sometimes sober) and it was especially fun doing Movie Mob debates with them. And I have to give a special shout-out to KeanuLover, who even proclaimed on the show that I was her favorite Mobster. Love ya, babe!

But Movie Mob got hardcore fun for me when it included GardenMary, RecessBoys, Meowzers, and of course, the FilmBadgers. GardenMary didn’t just come on the show strong, she dominated! Week after week! And she’s a sweet lady, she even came to see me perform improv. RecessBoys I loved since day one. They were just so snarky and cool, like a mini-Robin and Boy Wonder. I also commend them for sticking around through so much hatred and controversy (Some idiots actually believed their youth was the reason we were reviewing kids’ movies. God forbid we review something rated G or PG. How dare us!)

Meowzers… she will always hold a special place in my heart. We’ve had the luxury of spending some time together, on Movie Mob and off, and I’ve enjoyed it every time. And that leads me to the FilmBadgers. This dynamic duo of Movie Mob made it so much fun, with their creativity, energy, dedication and passion for movies as well as the show itself. Even in the ”AfterMASH” season of Movie Mob (get the reference?), they worked well to bring the elements of the show we loved so much, and brought us all along for the ride. I thank them, and something tells me FilmBadgers and Black Nerd Comedy will definitely be working together again.

I have to thank Eyeboogie for all the hard work they put into this show. Pete and Brandon, if you’re out there, thanks. Especially Pete, who would come to film me in the early days. I tried to be funny, if for anything, to make him laugh, cause I knew that would be good for the show. You guys were great! And kudos to Dan, who produced the show along with host Travis, for doing the best that they could with what they had to work with. I have it on good authority that every change made to Movie Mob was not theirs, but I feel they had to accept the good and bad of them all. So I appreciate you not only doing your best work but appreciating my talents, even with wireless internet (inside joke, ha ha).

I gotta give love to Sara Fletcher. I really enjoyed seeing her on the show and I already see she’s on to bigger and better things (Secret Girlfriend anyone?) And Tory Shulman, yum. MY secret girlfriend! It was hilarious TV-flirting with you and seeing you be silly every chance you got. You were a ball of energy and now you’re just as fun telling us what happened last night on TV.

Finally, I have to thank YOU. That’s right, if you’re reading this long-winded blog, you’re probably a big fan of Movie Mob or of me being on Movie Mob. And I give you the biggest thanks of all. Your votes every week, your sweet comments on my Facebook, and your interaction on the Movie Mob Facebook Page were equally loved and appreciated. In fact, Black Nerd Movie Mob fans were the reason I made a Facebook page outside my personal one, because so many of you wanted to talk to me beyond the show. So I have nothing but thanks for you.

But don’t think that the ending of Movie Mob means the ending of Black Nerd Comedy. For over two and a half years, I have been bringing comedy specifically to the Internet with videos, vlogs, blogs, funny pictures and webcasts, and that will definitely not stop. And I will definitely looking to my fellow Mobsters for collaborations. So if you ever need your Black Nerd fix without Movie Mob, you can always come here.

One more thing… I know having the show cancelled will get certain people to come up with a reason why. And most fingers will point to the format change, Travis hosting, new time slot, blah blah blah. Enough of that. Now not’s the time for speculation, cause I have my own theories not worth getting into… (Okay, I’ll share. I always thought the format change was what basically saved the show from being cancelled even earlier… but enough about that…)

Movie Mob was overall a fun experience, for me, for fellow Mobsters and for all of you. And as I’m always known for looking at the positive, that’s what I’ll do here. I’ll remember Movie Mob for all the good times, and I hope you all will, too. Movie Mob, thanks for the memories. It was a great ride.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch my new TV girlfriend… Casey Messer of Movies and Music.

Rob tells me there was lots of laughter in the live studio audience while the video showed and Justin gave me a shout-out live on the show. He even mentions wanting to do a video with me (Any ideas?) Many people wonder why we get so scared from monster movies and horror films. I blame television. When you are young, you get inidated with scary but funny shows about ghosts, ghouls and monsters, to the point you think they’re cute and fun. And then, whammo! You get older and are subjected to Ring chicks, Blair Witches, and Paranormal Activities! Nice job, TV.

So I thought I would take this opportunity to list all those kids’ TV shows and cartoons that made scary fun, completely bamboozling us about scary things until we got older. 31 to be exact. Why 31? Cause it’s HALLOWEEN! Oh yeah, and cause it’s a… PRIME NUMBER! IT’S A PRIME LIST!

01. THE ADDAMS FAMILY (ANIMATED SERIES)

After the awesome Addams Family movies came out, an animated series followed. It was kooky, silly and very very funny. But not many people remember it. All they remember is when Scooby-Doo met the Addams Family. Not the same.

02. THE NEW ADDAMS FAMILY

Now this one you might not remember. Before The Family Channel became ABC Family, it was FOX Family, and this was their flagship show. It’s like they got a bunch of Addams Family impersonaters and made a show out of it. But hey, it’s better than…

03. THE MUNSTERS TODAY

…ugh. This syndicated sitcom was all “Hey, let’s put the Munsters in the late 80s, so they can do totally rad 80s things!” And where do they get off with calling the show The Munsters… Today??? Didn’t they realize time would continue past this show? Anyway, you get Jason Marsden as Eddie Munster, so that’s a plus!

04. SCOOBY-DOO WHERE ARE YOU?

You knew this was going to be on the list? It’s the scary funny show that dreams and Scooby-Doo Costumes were made of!

05. A PUP NAMED SCOOBY-DOO

I knew there’s like 50 variations of Scooby-Doo, but I had to list this one, cause gosh darnit I LOVE THAT THEME SONG! Scooby-Dooby! Scooby-Dooby-Doo!

Okay, I promise, no more Scooby-Doo. But I LOVE this theme song! Best Simple Plan song ever.

FOX tried to get in on the scare kids bandwagon with the TV show based on the scary kids’ books. All I remember about this show was the evil dummy. Cartoon Network airs this show every October, further questioning why they are called “Cartoon” Network and not “Show Whatever We Want to Compete with Nickelodeon” Network.

13. THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS

One of the main reasons to wake up Saturday mornings and get home early weekday afternoons. This cartoon was the SHIZ-NITE! I’m still saving my pennies to buy the complete series DVD set. But they weren’t the only Ghostbusters on the block…

14. THE OTHER GHOSTBUSTERS

Based on the live-action 70’s series of the same ilk, this cartoon Ghostbusters came out the same time as The Real Ghostbusters which launched the eternal debut of which Busters bust better. Gotta love The Real Ghostbusters better, simply for the fact they have a black guy on their team instead of a FRAKKIN’ APE! But you gotta give the other Ghostbusters credit for having a villain as bad-@$$ as Prime Evil!

15. EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS

These ain’t yo daddy’s Ghostbusters! They Ghostbusters… to the XTREME!!! One’s a chick! And one’s in a wheelchair! Take that, society! XTREME!!!

16. SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH

Or as I like to call it, Sabrina Explains It All. This aired for the most part of ABC’s TGIF that I didn’t watch, especially after Family Matters left. Look at those dance moves in the third intro. Wow, no wonder she was on Dancing with the Stars, tee hee. Oh yeah, there’s an animated version, too. I wish there was a cartoon Clarissa. It could’ve led to the inevitable Clarissa/Doug crossover.

17. SABRINA THE CLASSIC ANIMATED SERIES

Yeah, the original Sabrina. With the real aunts. And hanging out with Archie. That’s the Sabrina I love. Sorry, Melissa/Clarissa. Besides, Sabrina made way for one of the grooviest cartoons ever…

18. THE GROOVY GOOLIES

Everybody shout! Come on now, sing out! It’s time for the Goolie get-together! I totally want to go to a goolie get-together. That would be fun. Hanging with monsters. Making lame puns. Solving mysteries. Oh wait, that’s not Groovy Goolies, that’s…

19. THE MONSTER SQUAD

No, not the campy 80’s movie. I’m talking about a TV show with monsters solving crimes. OH NO! SCOOBY RIP-OFFS RETURN! Dangit Dangit Dangit!!!

20. BIG BAD BEETLEBORGS

Alright, let’s go from Scooby rip-offs to Power Ranger rip-offs. Let’s stop having the monsters solve mysteries and instead fight monsters. With three kids in bug suits. And a guy that looks like a cross between Jay Leno and a blue version of The Mask. Man, we just would just watch ANYTHING in the 90’s, huh?

21. WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE

This show is starting to grow on me. I think it’s Selena’s sarcastic timing. Very different from the typical Disney Channel “LET’S YELL REALLY LOUD CAUSE THAT MAKES IT’S FUNNIER” comedy. But seriously, how old is Selena Gomez? She still has the same face from her Barney days. She must use some really good facial cleanser.

22. TALES FROM THE CRYPTKEEPER

That’s right, boils and ghouls! Tales from the Crypt had an animated Saturday morning cartoon for kids! What better way to continue their fun of sneaking out of bed the night before to watch the real show on HBO. You know you did it! By the way, it’s not to be confused with the actual Tales from the Crypt episode, “The Third Pig.”

23. BUMP IN THE NIGHT

Don’t let this show fool you. It’ll suck you in with its music and claymation, but this show’s got the E/I label. That means you’ll learn something, fool! The scariest thing of all. Edutainment.

24. RICK MORANIS IN GRAVEDALE HIGH

NBC had this weird fascination of trying to bring back the “Celebrities in Cartoons” fad of the 70’s. Camp Candy, Jordan, Bo and Gretsky in ProStars, Wish Kid starring Macauley Culkin, Kid ‘n Play, and of course, this series. Is this the last thing Rick Moranis did before he retired? I think so. Either this or The Flintstones Movie. Either way, sad.

25. LITTLE SHOP

Funny, Rick Moranis had nothing to do with this cartoon. But see, this is a perfect example of misleading children. Any kid watching this thinks, “Oh Audrey II is cute” and then you find out later, that plant don’t eat pizza… that plant eats BLOOD! Yeaaah, boyyyy!!!

26. TEEN WOLF

Yes, believe it or not, Teen Wolf had a cartoon. Teen Wolf. But that’s ok. I’m glad movies were made into cartoons. Because it brought us one of the most awesomest movie to cartoon adaptation ever. But you have to say it three times fast to make it show up on the list…

27. BEETLEJUICE

This cartoon was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t get enough of it. Sure, they changed Lydia into a little girl so Beetlejuice isn’t trying to marry her anymore. It doesn’t matter! THIS. CARTOON. WAS. GOLD. I even loved the quickly churned out weekday afternoon ones. It was just a great show. Da-boo-dee-boo-da!

28. CASPER THE FRIENDLY GHOST

Before Beetlejuice, this was the original ghost with the most. Casper the Friendly Ghost is as old school as it gets. And it got revived to a really cool version, The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper, after the Casper movie came out. Hard to find, but if you do, check it out. Rare to enjoy a series based on the adventures of a dead kid.

29. MONSTER BASH

I’m reaching way back for this one. You would get this little segments in between cartoons on the USA Cartoon Express. Ah, I miss the Cartoon Express. I don’t see why they can’t bring it back. Just make a new cartoon called Little Monk and the Psych Kids.

30. THE MINI MONSTERS

If you know what cartoon series this came from, then I bow down to your nerdy retroness.

31. MY PET MONSTER

How do you sell your toy line? You make a cartoon out of it, of course! But I have to admit I watched this show every week. It was that darn theme song. It lured me in every time. And you gotta love the reference to the Addams Family at the beginning. See, my list comes full circle.

13 Prime Lands Jesse Eisenberg Can Conquer

This past weekend, Zombieland was released and became the #1 Movie in America. It also was the 185th zombie film to open this year (if you also count indie musicals, YouTube videos and flash mobs). Zombieland stars Woody Harrelson, who you might remember from Cheers, Kingpin or your last bong party. It also stars Jesse Eisenberg, who you might remember earlier this year starring in Adventureland with the Twilight chick and Deadpool.

Wait a sec. Zombieland? Adventureland? We’re sensing a pattern here. So not only does Jesse Eisenberg only star in films that Michael Cera can’t do, now he only stars in films that have “land” in the title. What a diva! So I’ve come up with more movies based on lands that Jesse Eisenberg should add to his resume. 13 to be exact. Why 13? Cause I like PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST!

TALKBACK: What other “Lands” should Jesse Eisenberg conquer?

1. DISNEYLAND

In this sports drama, Jesse Eisenberg plays quarterback Eli Manning of the New York Giants, who throws the ball that contributes to the game-winning touchdown of Super Bowl XLII. Then he reveals, when asked, that Disneyland is where he will be, quote, “going to.” The movie will air on ABC Family, right after Lindsay Lohan in Labor Pains.

2. McDONALDLAND

Same plot as Zombieland, except Woody Harrelson is The Hamburglar and Jesse Eisenberg is Ronald McDonald. Jesse fights off evil Fry Guys and Grimaces while having romantic feelings for Emma Stone, who plays Birdie the Early Bird. And [INSERT ZOMBIELAND SPOILER CAMEO HERE] makes an awesome cameo as Mayor McCheese.

3. CANDY LAND

There’s already a deal to make a big-screen version of this classic board game, so we’re sure Jesse’s agent is already on it.

4. COP LAND

This should be an easy film to do since Sylvester Stallone is all about remaking his past movies. That’s if he’s not already working on a new version of Cliffhanger, Over the Top, or Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

5. VIDEOLAND

Same plot as Adventureland. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Captain N: The Game Master from the Saturday Morning Cartoon/Nintendo Product Placement series of the same name. He will have feelings for Kristen Stewart, playing Princess Lana. But she will be secretly dating Ryan Reynolds, who is playing Simon Belmont. Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig will also star, as Mega Man and Kid Icarus respectively.

6. WACKYLAND

Jesse is Porky Pig, traveling to Wackyland in search of the last DoDo (played by Abigail Breslin in the role that will earn her a second Oscar nomination). Just like the classic cartoon, he will travel past Dark Africa and Darker Africa to Darkest Africa. Ah, racism was so cute in 1938.

7. SUPER MARIO LAND 2

Jesse Eisenberg is Mario and travels to a world totally in black and white (or black and pea soup green depending on your model of Game Boy). Playing Mario’s evil doppelganger Wario will obviously be Michael Cera. It makes perfect sense. Plus, he’ll do anything after Year One.

8. THE LAND BEFORE TIME

Jesse Eisenberg goes back to the Jurassic period to take care of Little Foot after the poor longneck’s parents died. Jesse will then be set for life, since the movie will clearly have endless direct-to-DVD sequels.

9. LAND OF THE LOST

What? What do you mean there’s a movie version of this already? Well, when did it come out? THIS SUMMER??? As in Summer 2009? HA HA HA, you’re kidding me! That’s a good one. Let me think. Wolverine, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past… nope, no Land of the Lost. Stop making things up. You stupid.

10. PAC-LAND

Jesse Eisenberg is Pac-Man living in Pac-Land, eating little yellow pellets and thinking he has super powers and that he can see ghosts… wait, nah. Zombieland co-star Woody Harrelson is more suited for this pill-popping adventure. Or Paula Abdul. ZING!

11. TV LAND

Jesse Eisenberg will star as a TV network that used to show great retro sitcoms and classic dramas, but now makes lame reality shows for baby boomers. The Cougar, anyone?

12. NEVERLAND

Jesse Eisenberg would be the perfect Peter Pan, and Kristen Stewart would definitely have to be Wendy. She’s used to flying. She’s already done it with glittery vampires. And since it’s Disney and features pirates, Johnny Depp is obligated to be Captain Hook. Unless he’s still grieving over Dick Cook being ousted.

13. NEVERLAND RANCH

Too soon.

Now it’s you turn. What “Lands” did we miss? And congrats to Jesse Eisenberg’s career. Also, congrats to his hair. I haven’t seen an awesome Jew-fro like that since Billy in Gremlins.

I love Halloween decorations. But this one struck me as a little odd. I know the unmentioned store didn’t do it intentionally. But I couldn’t help thinking: Maybe they should’ve used a lighter-skin mannequin. Or Kim Cattrall in Mannequin. But that could be my “Racism Gene” talking. You see, in every black person, there’s a gene that makes them find racism in EVERYTHING! It’s scientifically proven.

Then they host events where they bring all their games together, put them on free play and we play them all night long! 19 Prime Urkel and Family Matters Moments

The first episode of Family Matters premiered on September 22, 1989. Which means that this week is the series’ 20th anniversary. Where’s the love? Where’s the fanfare? And most importantly, WHERE’S THE DVD RELEASES? Come on, every season of Full House is on DVD! Why no love for Urkel and the Winslows?

Well, don’t worry, Family Matters fans. This black nerd won’t let you down. I have scoured the halls of YouTube and found 19 hilarious moments from the ABC TGIF series to show you. Why 19? Cause I like PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST!

TALKBACK: What are your favorite moments from Family Matters?

1. THE URKEL DANCE

What Urkel list isn’t complete without the single most ridiculous yet awesome dance in the world? Don’t worry about why a kid has his own song. Or his own dance. Or that everyone at the party knows the dance. Just know it’s the Steve Urkel dance, and it’s better than Elvis. Heck, even Bea Arthur did the Urkel Dance! So do the Urkel! Do the Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Urkel!

2. URKEL AND MYRA DUELING ACCORDIANS

This is hands down my favorite Family Matters moment of all-time. Laura tries to get Urkel to give Myra a chance. They find out they share a taste in accordians. And what happens next is Urkel history. If you would’ve told me there would be a sitcom where two black people would play accordians and dance to polka music, I would have slapped you in the face. But it happened. And happened uber-well. Consider your face non-slapped.

3. STEVE URKEL BECOMES STEFAN URQUELLE

With the help of cool juice or boss sauce, Jaleel White turned from the geeky Steve Urkel to the GQ Stefan Urquelle. I can’t help but think this was an attempt for us to see an older Jaleel in a different light (and to probably save some of his “Li’l Jaleel Whites” from being crushed by uber-tight pants). But for whatever reason, it was gold. Check out Stefan Urquelle’s first appearance (Part 1 and Part 2).

I could also take this time to explain that Stefan returned for other episodes until eventually Steve cloned himself and turned one of the clones into Stefan… but, well, I just don’t have time to explain that. I have a shark to jump.

4. MYRTLE URKEL

You know I’m gonna say it? A BLACK MAN IN A DRESS IS HILARIOUS! But this was inevitable. What’s better than one Urkel? Two Urkels! And make one a female Urkel! So enter Myrtle Urkel, the Belle of Biloxi. Fiddle-e-dee. Myrtle is really funny though, even if watching Jaleel in drag flirting with Eddie can be… awkward.

Interesting factoid: You may have noticed a large gap between the first and second appearance of Myrtle Urkel. According to this interview, a young Jaleel White cried after doing this episode because he thought his fellow jocks at school would make fun of him. Guess he never heard of Grandmama? Oh wait, yes he has. Grandmama guest starred on Family Matters.

5. LAURA FEELS LIKE AN URKEL

Next to the dueling accordians, this is one of my absolute favorite Family Matters moments. After losing the meaning of Christmas by being mean to Steve, an angel that looks like the brotha from Good Morning Miss Bliss gives us “Steve Winslow” and “Laura Urkel” to teach Laura Winslow a lesson. It’s 1/3 It’s a Wonderful Life, 1/3 Freaky Friday and 1/3 HILARIOUS!!! And gee, when Harriette comes in with a gingerbread house that she just built, CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENS TO IT? I love Laura Urkel. She’s the geeky girl of my dreams.

6. BRUCE LEE URKEL

Hey kids? Have trouble with bullies? Then just create a transformation chamber, gather the DNA of Bruce Lee, and beat those bullies up! That’s what Urkel do. Yes, I know the clip is in Spanish. But it’s Steve Urkel kicking @$$. Does it matter?

7. URKELBOT

9. STEVIL WANTS STEVE’S SOUL

When it comes to Halloween episodes, most sitcoms give you your classic characters in costume. Not Family Matters. They go all-out with a storyline worthy of Child’s Play sequels, as Steve is constantly being chased by Stevil, a ventriloquist dummy who wants Urkel’s soul. And for the series 200th episode, they introduced Carlsbad, Carl’s dummy duplicate. They scare. They steal souls. And they DAAAANCE! Who says sitcoms are dead?

10. URKEL CAMEOS ON FULL HOUSE

What’s got DJ Tanner and the black chick from Camp Cucamonga freaked out? Only the most nerdtastic TV crossover in sitcom history! That’s right, mofos, Steve Urkel guest stars on Full House. And Uncle Jesse trying to teach Urkel how to walk? Comedy gold! Check out Part 1 and Part 2 of Urkel’s Full House cameos. Everywhere you look!

11. URKEL CAMEOS ON STEP BY STEP

Yes, we can’t mention Urkel being on Full House without mentioning he was on Step by Step. If you even know what Step by Step is. It was the show that came on between Family Matters and Dinosaurs. But we get to see the Urkel dance again, yay! Plus, Urkel takes Al to the school dance. Good job, Steve. Al grows up HOT! See the whole episode to get all the Step by Stepness: Part 1 and Part 2.

12. URKEL PLAYING BASKETBALL

You read right. Jaleel White is a good basketball player in real-life, so I guess he pulled his Urkel muscle to get him an episode showing his ballin’ skills. To prove even black nerds have basketball abilities. Except for me. I’m only good at basketball when I play… DOUBLE DRIBBLE! And yes, I knew Laura’s cheer from memory. I know too much about this show.

13. FAMILY MATTERS GUN PSA

Alright, let’s get serious for a second. Let’s stop teen violence and guns in school. SQUASH IT!

14. URKEL BLOWS UP THE WORLD

Did Urkel do that? Yes, he did. In Laura’s dreams, Urkel makes an A-bomb and blows up the earth while Laura’s parents and grandmother sing “That’s life.” Not to mention Max Urkel Headroom. Classic Family Matters at its best.

15. URKEL FINALLY STANDS UP TO LAURA

This clip is for every guy who has ever been used, abused and unappreciated by a woman they have feelings for. After a series of mishaps and Laura’s bad attitude, Urkel is mad as H-E-double popsicle sticks, and he’s not gonna take it any more. You hear that sound? That’s the sound of Urkel’s spine. It just grew in! Take that, Laura! Now share that bed!

16. URKEL BREAKS YOUR HEART

I seriously almost cried the first time I saw this clip. Not only cause it’s sad, but because… I’ve been there. I know how he feels in this moment. So I ask you to watch this touching Family Matters clip. No strings attached. Just the one to my heart.

17. THE URKEL/LAURA/MYRA TRIANGLE

For years, Family Matters was all about Steve trying to get with Laura. But when Myra came into the picture, things changed. Steve wanted Laura, Myra wanted Steve, Laura hated Myra, Myra fought Laura for Steve, Laura fought back, even though Laura didn’t want Steve. I’m sorry, Denise Richards, but THIS is complicated! And when two girls argue in Sitcomland, you know what has to happen… FOOD FIGHT!

19. THE RAPPIN’ WINSLOWS

Think the Urkel Dance is the only song? Think again! Back in the Urkel-less early episodes of Family Matters, the Winslows made a music video for a contest. And I can’t think of a better song to end this prime list for a wonderful series.

Whether downhome and sweet or scientifically absurd, Family Matters was a fine program that safely entertained us for 8 ABC years and 1 CBS one. Happy 20th anniversary to you, Urkel and the Winslows. We will continue to love you, as days go by.

One of my favorite websites is Spill.com, started up by some friends of mine from my Austin days. Every week, I check out their hilarious movie reviews in audio and even animated form. They also do special videos like this one: Korey aka “The Black Wonder” interviews people with elaborate costumes at San Diego Comic-Con 2009 and asks the important question. How do you go to the bathroom?

Look a couple of times in the video for a Black Nerd in a Scooby-Doo costume who gets very angry at the question. Oh, and watch out for Spill’s nasty nemesis, The Spoiler. It’s a recurring character played by Spillster Leon, who has a knack in his movie reviews to spoil the ending. Pretty funny, except for the fact that he’s now ruined Harry Potter for me. CURSE YOU, SPOILER!!!

My apologies to Kanye, Beyonce and Taylor Swift, but THIS is one of the best music videos of all-time. I don’t know why, but every time I hear this song, I get into it. Maybe it’s because I’m a nerd and I like songs about education. Maybe it’s because it features a pop singer that doesn’t look like a Bratz doll. Or maybe it’s because I watch Adult Swim a lot, and this commercial plays during EVERY FRAKKIN’ COMMERCIAL BREAK THEY HAVE! Either way,I’m hooked. I can’t resist it’s catchy nature.

I see the creators of this commercial are trying to strike gold again with a Lilith Fair version, a Jonas Brothers version and a Skee-Lo version. But it will never top the original. If Education Connection were smart, they should make a version for the new comedy series Community! It would be easy; there’s even a video to learn the lyrics. I’d love to see Joel McHale or Chevy Chase getting connected. For free.

After the Super Mario Jump, enjoy a bunch of kids singing the song. This could be the first step to get America’s youth excited again about the education system. Remember, kids. Don’t Be a Fool: Stay in School.

Don’t get me wrong. I like you. You have entertained me for several years. YO! MTV Raps. Beavis and Butt-Head. Remote Control. Kennedy… yes, you had a woman on your network named Kennedy. You don’t remember? That’s messed up.

But I digress. You have definitely entertained me throughout my childhood.

But I’m older now. And I was looking to you to grow with me. And now I see you haven’t.

You went from mostly sophisticated musical fare with an edge to… well… Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet… III. And women singing about “disco sticks.” Not to mention you single-handedly brought back the Anti-Christ. You know him as Spencer.

So I have to say it, MTV. It’s time for you to grow up.

And this brings me to your awards shows. Now, I like a little watercooler moment every now and then. But something ridiculous happening at EVERY awards show you host? Now you just want some attention, my friend. And that’s cute…

5 Prime Ways to Keep The Princess and the Frog Less Racist

This weekend, Disney will be hosting the D23 Expo, their convention of all things Disney. Why not show these things earlier at Comic-Con rather than hosting yet another convention? CAUSE THEY DISNEY! THEY CAN DO THAT! You can’t plug Hannah Montana at Comic-Con, son! Besides, why hang with comix when you can just buy them for 4 billion dollars?

But I digress. One of the big properties Disney will be selling to the Pooh-loving masses is the upcoming film The Princess and the Frog. There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding this movie, since it’s a 2-D animated feature AND introduces Disney’s first Black Princess that’s not a lion. So non-black princes, bucktooth fireflies and Keith David witchdoctors are getting a lot of heavy scrutiny.

Not to mention the brouhaha over changing the main character’s name from the stereotypical Maddy to the nubian Tiana (Wait, Ashley Tisdale is named Maddie on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Does that mean Sharpay’s a sistah?)

So as a service to The Walt Disney Company, I have come up with 5 ways to make sure The Princess and the Frog doesn’t cross the boundaries of good racial taste. Why 5? Cause I like PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST: The 5 Prime Ways to Keep The Princess and the Frog Less Racist!

1. DON’T PUT TIANA ON A VH-1 REALITY DATING SHOW.

Even though her name is perfect for it and her nickname would probably be “Frog’z Leggz,” we don’t want to see Princess Tiana compete with 19 other princesses over the affections of Flavor Flav or Ray J. Though it would be funny to see Ariel use her fins to b!+¢h-slap New York. You go, girl. See you at the reunion show.

2. DON’T AUTO-TUNE ANY SONGS FROM THE MOVIE.

We want music from Alan Menken or Randy Newman. Not T-Pain or Lil Wayne. “I am a frog, shawty! Yeh-eeee-yeh-yeh!”

On a side note, it was noted in Wikipedia that John Lasseter changed the person in charge for this movie’s music to Randy Newman instead of Alan Menken, because he felt using Menken would have been “repetitive.” Makes sense, because you’ve NEVER. USED. RANDY. NEWMAN. BEFORE.

3. DON’T HAVE PRINCE NAVEEN DRESS IN DRAG.

Even though Naveen sounds like, well, a cross-dresser name to say the least, do not feel the urge to make him do so. Leave that to Tyler Perry. And Martin Lawrence. And The Wayans Bros. And the guy from Juwanna Mann. And Jaleel White (Myrtle Urkel, anyone?) Oh man, black men dressing up like women is HILARIOUS!

4. NO GLORIFICATION OF SOUL FOOD WHATSOEVER.

None of the characters can eat the following foods: fried chicken, watermelon, ribs, Funjuns, pork rinds, soul food, or Strawberry Hill Boone’s Farm. Bambi’s mom might have died in a drive-by, but we don’t want to see Tiana’s mom die of diabetes.

5. DON’T DEPICT A SCENE WHERE PRINCESS TIANA GETS ARRESTED IN HER OWN CASTLE.

We know the film will need a climax before resolution, but don’t let that be Tiana being carried out of her own home, Henry Louis Gates Jr. style. Cause then Colin Powell will complain that you should have been more cooperative.

All joking aside, I understand people’s concerns. But at the end of the day, we should be pleased that Disney is FINALLY adding an African-American princess to their line-up. And unless they do something that is super outlandishly prejudice, let’s stop nit-picking on little tidbits here and there, and do our best to offer suggestions and support this film.

Cause best believe, if this movie tanks, the closest we’ll ever get to another Black Disney Princess is Raven-Symone in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. And I think we can all agree Disney can do better than that.

(Power Rangers) Got Talent

Yo, what’s up? It’s ya boi, Black Nerd, Wild N Out, freestyle comedy… sorry, I was trying my best Nick Cannon impression. He’s the host of America’s Got Talent, a show so meh, the only buzz it can get is about its British version (thanks, Susan Boyle). But I thought it was worth searching the Hulu for this clip referred to me by JessicaCorey (Who lives in Canada, so sadly I don’t think she’s even in an appropriate region to view this clip. The irony.)

Some group called FootworkKINGZ… whatever… did a dance… who cares… set to the tune of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song… WAIT, WHAT? THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT!

Actually, there isn’t much to talk about. Other than the nerdy joy of seeing a dance sequence to one of the best theme songs ever with the simplest of choruses, this dance honestly didn’t impress me much (And from the looks of the video, judges Sharon Osbourne and British-Dude-That’s-Not-Simon-Cowell agree). But it does have some Power Rangers nerdstalgia going on, so it makes my Nerdy Pleasures lists.

Wow, a Power Rangers dance sequence on America’s Got Talent? What will they think of next? Next, you’ll be telling me Ellen’s going to be the official American Idol judge replacement for Paula Abdul! Ha ha ha, oh Andre, that’s a good one.

P.S. Make some Illinoise? Seriously, Nick? You’re just giving Eminem easy targets (nsfw).

(Retro 80s) The Dark Cristal Robot Chicken Rap

Earlier this week, Google’s Gmail was offline for approximately 100 minutes. In that amount of time, TEH INTERWEB was flooded was angry tweets, blogs, and greater than signs followed by colons followed by open parentheses.

To show what we all were obviously feeling, Unknown Penguin made this hilarious video of people’s actual accounts of Gmail crashing. I’m the one who treats Gmail like it’s a bad boyfriend.

7 Prime Opponents Tommy from Power Rangers Should MMA Fight

Someone will need to change one of the M’s in MMA fighting… to “Morphing.” I’m sorry, make that “Morphin.”

Because it has been reported that Jason David Frank, a.k.a. “Tommy” the Green Ranger, then the White Ranger, has officially become an MMA fighter. And I couldn’t be happier. Now I can finally take this fighting league seriously. Sure, these fighters have had years of training (ahem, and steroids) and can take down people three times their size. But I don’t take any fighter seriously unless he knows how to take out a league of Super Putties (go for the Z!)

So the question remains… who will be the first to fight the former Mighty Morphin Power Ranger in the ring? Well, I have a few suggestions. 7 to be exact. Why 7? Cause I like PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST!

So here it is! 7 Prime Opponents Tommy (Jason David Frank) Should MMA Fight!

1. BULK AND SKULL

Consider this the training match. Sure, Bulk and Skull are no challenge… they’re the Rocksteady and Bebop of the Power Rangers Universe. But nothing would be more charming than seeing the 1990s Weekday Afternoon and Saturday Morning version of Laurel & Hardy bumbling around in a steel cage, possibly in some outrageous costumes. The best part will be when JDF wins the fight, sending the dumb duo flying into Lt. Stone or Ernie’s juice bar. Then he could laugh and pause in freeze frame, while the end music plays and the credits start.

2. A NINJA TURTLE

It’s been an age-old debate of who is better in the Entertaining Children as Ninja game – the Power Rangers or the Ninja Turtles. That can now be settled in MMA. Must note, however, that the Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles did fight before. But it wasn’t Mighty Morphin, it was in Space. And it wasn’t the Cowabunga 80s TMNT or the kick-@$$ New Millennium TMNT or even the CGI-TMNT. It was the often-forgotten Next Mutation Turtles featuring that stupid 5th girl Turtle, Venus. Yes, FIFTH GIRL TURTLE! You heard me. I hate when shows feel the need to add an unnecessary girl character. Isn’t that right, DuckTales?

ACTION: Take the Super Mario Jump for 5 more Prime List selections. And did I miss anyone?

3. LORD ZEDD

Okay, now here’s a worthy opponent. Without question, JDF has to go fisticuffs with the Best. Power. Rangers. Villain. Ever. I just want some announcer to say, “Ladies and gentleman, now entering the ring… Lord Zedd” and then that red dude’s theme music starts playing. That’d be so L33T! Watch out when Zedd fights you, dude. I’m sure Goldar will be close by with some nasty tricks. And it’ll be hard to concentrate with Scorpina as his cheerleader.

4. KIMBERLY (PINK RANGER)

Hell hath no fury like a Power Ranger scorned. Kimberly should totally fight “Tommy” and she has every reason to. All the girl wanted to do was head off to the Pan Global Games to show off her athletic prowess. And what does Tommy do? He freakin’ shacks up with Katherine, the girl that tried killing Kimberly in the first place… WHILE TURNING INTO A CAT! That’s messed up, dude. Kim’s gonna beat you up so bad.

SELF-SECOND OPINION: Kimberly did break up with Tommy for some other guy, but never said who it was. Then, in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, she’s out scuba diving with Jason! Methinks we found the new boyfriend. IT’S CHEATIN’ TIME! No wonder those got captured by Divatox and turned into slaves. Karma is cruel, Kim. And Power Ranger Jason… not actor Jason… should’ve known better. Some best friend. Which brings me to my next opponent…

5. JASON (RED/GOLD RANGER)

It has been hinted numerous times that there may be some rivalry between Jason and Tommy. Jason was the leader of the Power Rangers – the Red Ranger – then the Green Ranger comes along and steals the spotlight. Then Green Ranger goes away, becomes the White Ranger, and freakin’ takes leadership of the team. Then Jason (again, Ranger, not actor) leaves, comes back as Gold Ranger Zeo and regains his place on the Power Rangers throne. Then Tommy says, “Oh yeah! Well I’m gonna take the Zordon role and lead the Dino Thunder Power Rangers… AND GET A DOCTORATE, MOFO!” Say what you will about friendship and teamwork, these two wanna beat each other up bad! Or kiss. I can’t figure out which.

6. BRUCE LEE URKEL

Not many people know this, but Jason David Frank actually appeared in an episode of Family Matters! He played a bad guy at that, being part of a gang taking over a park. That is, until Urkel shows up with his transformation chamber and beats him up, Bruce Lee style. And if that weren’t bad enough, JDF also gets beat up by 3J. What the frak? Does anyone even remember who 3J is??? It’s one thing to be beat up by Pudgy Pig or Pumpkin Rapper, it’s another to be defeated by the voice of Sonic. Steve Urkel, watch your back. You’re about to taste ground while a Power Ranger hovers you and says, “Did I do that?”

7. HIMSELF

I demand it! Jason David Frank must be cloned so that this can happen again… WHITE POWER RANGER VS. GREEN POWER RANGER!!! Tiger Power vs. Dragon Power! White Tigerzord vs. Dragonzord! Saba vs. That awesome green dagger that plays music! Da – da da – da da daaaaaa! You get the White and Green Ranger in the MMA ring, get the fight started, and play one of them cool Power Rangers background songs like “We Need a Hero” or “I Will Win” and you’ll get the MOST VIEWED MMA FIGHT IN HISTORY! 19.95! ONLY ON PAY-PER-VIEW!!!

So that’s my Prime List. I personally can’t wait to see Jason David Frank fight in the MMA or the UFC. I know some people will see it as a gimmick, and it could be. But if he trains hard, shows his skills, and takes it seriously, it will be amazing. I just hope he doesn’t have to do one of those Power Ranger special messages at the end of every fight. Get real!

One of my absolute favorite series growing up was Punky Brewster. While all the other adopting adults of the TV 80s were busy scooping up little black kids, Uncle Henry took in this Caucasian cutie played by Soleil Moon Frye. I have to admit, she was one of my first white-girl crushes. Sweet orphaned vanilla.

So you know I J*ZZED ‘N MY PANTS when I saw this amazing Ustream video. After getting a million followers on Twitter, “The Moon” returned to her Punky Brewster roots, complete with pigtails, mismatched shoes, and a plethora of Punky Phrases from the obvious “PUNKY POWER!” to the bizarre “Henry, I’m getting b00bs.”

She also speaks the truth… Punky’s wardrobe was gangsta before gangsta was gangsta. So you know what crew I’ll be rollin’ with! The Punkys! Me, Cherie, Margaux, and Allen, fool! Mess with us, and we lock yo @$$ in a refrigerator!

You have to give a LOT of props to Soleil Moon Frye for doing this. While so many former child stars look at their past characters with disgust, she embraces it. She has fun with it, making this not only a remarkable retro flashback, but proving how much of a wonderful, grounded woman she is. Someone who is grateful for her success and appreciative of her fans.

Bless you and thank you, Soleil Moon Frye, for being such an upstanding citizen, a marvelous entertainer… and for re-igniting my white-girl crush.

Punky Power lives forever! Now if only Glomer would return to be with “Punky-friend.”

Webby from DuckTales Inducted into the ANNOYING CARTOON SIDEKICK HALL OF FAME

It’s time to induct a cartoon character into the ANNOYING CARTOON SIDEKICK HALL OF FAME, a place where bad cartoon characters go to die. Today’s inductee: Webigail Vanderquack (also known as “Webby”) from DuckTales.

Every time I see Webby on this classic cartoon, all we think of is some Disney Afternoon executive going, “Give Huey, Dewey & Louie a sister.”

And then the show creator going, “Uh, they’ve never had a sister the entire time people have known them.”

And then that executive saying, “Well, make up some cockamamie story about her being the granddaughter of the housekeeper, so he hangs around a lot. That’s it. I like it. Money money money money money.”

And sure enough, that was Webby’s reason of being on DuckTales (More like SUCKTales! Am I right? Hi-5!) She was the granddaughter of Mrs. Beakley and therefore always wanted to be a part of Huey, Dewey & Louie’s adventures. And that was really her point of being on DuckTales.

That, and because the show needed girls.

TALKBACK: What are your thoughts on Webby from DuckTales? And who do you think should be inducted into the Annoying Cartoon Sidekick Hall of Fame next?

They could’ve used Daisy Duck, but I guess she’s too old. Or her nieces April, May and June Duck, but this is probably your first time you’ve ever heard of them. You see, a lot of old school cartoons didn’t make enough complex female characters in their sexist past, so they just always threw in female counterparts to their established male characters (We’re surprised there isn’t a “Goofette” or “Plutonia” running around).

And that’s what Webby was. One of Donald’s nephews in a dress. Complete with annoying “cutesy child” talk, annoying whining, and even a smaller version of herself in doll form to carry around. Lame. All she did was cause trouble or get kidnapped. And she’s partly responsible for keeping the wretched BUBBA DUCK on the show.

Don’t worry, Bubba. Your induction is coming soon. Real soon.

Congrats, Webby, for being a completely unnecessary character in the Duckburg universe. May you forever be a part of the ANNOYING CARTOON SIDEKICK HALL OF FAME! DuckTales! WOO-HOO!

If the Oscars aren’t long enough, every year Barbara Walters extends more of its time (as well as her own) by hosting a companion special interviewing the biggest entertainers of the year. Everyone from Will Smith to Harrison Ford to whichever Disney Channel tween the studios are trying to sell us (expect a Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez interview in 2010).

But in 1991, shortly before the release of the EPIC film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, Baba Wawa sat down with Leonawdo, Donatelwo, Michaelangewo, and Waphael about the obvious racism the Oscars throw upon those who are green (their jokes, not ours).

It’s tough to watch this interview, mainly because ALL FOUR TURTLES TALK AT THE SAME TIME! Barbara can’t get a word in edgewise.

Wait a second. A talk show where Barbara can’t speak because she is constantly being interrupted by four hideous creatures all squawking at the same time? That’s it! This is how she came up with The View! That Barbara, always thinking.

My friends Erin Schwall (chickletgurl13 on YouTube, you may also remember her as the sexy lady from Blac Efron) and Heath Butler (@HeathButler on Twitter) are doing a Breast Cancer Walk. They recently did a video to promote their walk and ask for donations.

And what better way to promote a walk than spoofing a Rocky I-Balboa training montage! And guess who gets to play the coach helping them build some hurting bombs! Yeeeeeah! Seriously, listen to my neck crack. It’s amazing. Matt Ryan, who accompanied me to the Smash Bros. Brawl Midnight Launch, is in the short, too.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, June 21, 2009, you should see their “2 Drink for Ta-Ta’s” improv show. The proceeds of the show will go toward their donations. The hilarious part is that this was an intro for the CMT Awards. Country Music Television has gone a long way since being bought by the same company that owns BET and MTV.

I know some people are truly scared of the HSM franchise, but I don’t think this is what they meant.

(Retro 90s) Late Night Gets a Zack Attack

I have not watched one single episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Just wasn’t all that interested. I was so in Conan mode! But Jimmy, congrats, you found out a way to make me watch an episode of your show. And that was this clip.

Apparently, Jimmy Fallon has had a running gag that he wants the entire cast of Saved by the Bell have a reunion on their show. It may have seem like a fluke idea, but then in one of the most awesome interviews ever, Mark-Paul Gosselaar comes out dressed as full-on Zack Morris and agrees to do the reunion. As a matter of fact, only Screech and Kelly are left (seriously? How is Screech NOT in on this yet? Is he busy teaching people chess?)

TALKBACK: What did you think of “Zack Morris” on Jimmy Fallon? And what is your favorite Saved by the Bell character or moment?

I really enjoyed the interview. Not only does Mark-Paul do THE ENTIRE FREAKIN’ INTERVIEW as Zack Morris (sweet!) but he does all the classic SbtB traits: times out the show, lowers a poster of Kelly Kapowski, shows his hatred to Jeff the college student that took her away from him, and even gives a shout-out to Stacey Carosi (maybe she’ll be down now that King of Queens is over).

He even pulls out some obscure references. I don’t know how many people in the audience got the Kelly changed zip codes reference (she was on Beverly Hills 90210… the old one). And kudos to anyone who got him moving to California from Indiana with his two best friends and principal. All I’ve got to say is… Good Morning, Miss Bliss.

That would have been enough… but he even does more! He joins the band and sings the Zack Attack classic, “Friends Forever.” Zack Morris singing a Saved by the Bell song with The Roots. Sorry Jimmy Fallon, cancel your show now. Even the reunion won’t be as cool as this, and nothing better can ever happen on your show. EVER!

I applaud Mark-Paul for doing this for again proving you can do your thing as an actor and still appreciate your roots. I understand and know it’s tough for child stars to break free of their character once the show is over. But it’s another thing to go back and act like it was the worst thing in your life or career, cause many people don’t get that! And it’s THAT that made us know who you are. So kudos for embracing your classic Zack, kudos.

Now I guess I will go back to not watching Jimmy Fallon until the reunion happens. And if I ever get my own talk show, best believe I will start up a similar reunion for Family Matters or the Power Rangers.

So I did the unthinkable… actually watched some American Idol (cough, Adam)… so I could catch the preview episode of Glee, a new and very smart FOX show that will hopefully succeed and not fall into the Andy Richter Controls the Universe abyss of gone-too-soon-shows. Glee is fresh. It’s funny. It’s quirky. The cast does a remarkable job. They can SANG! And let’s not forget it has the amazing Jane Lynch and Google Girl from Heroes.

I’ve been seeing a lot of reviews, Tweets and status updates from people saying how great it is. And I totally agree with them. What I DON’T agree with are the people who loved this premiere, but have an extreme hatred of High School Musical, or to a lesser extent, Spectacular. I’m sorry, people, they are cut from the same cloth! Deal with it!

Let me break down for you…

Yes, Glee is for the mature audience. FOX even added “Viewer Discretion Advised” to remind you that it’s for the mature audience (cause I know kids TOTALLY follow the TV rules). We got talks of adult humor, pregnancies, possible infidelity, man/boy touching, drug dealing, and a kid in a wheelchair. All in quirky, comical ways, of course!

But Glee features singing show choir kids. So does Spectacular. And High School Musical don’t just do show choir, THEY PUT ON A SHOOOOOOOW! Don’t Stop Believin’! How about Breakin’ Free? Or You Give Me Something to Believe In! Take it away, Nikko!

Lots of other elements in the premiere sent me to East High in my mind. Take Jane Lynch’s speech about the school caste system and that everyone stays with their clique with no overlapping. Does this mean the new Glee Club teacher is trying to tell kids DON’T STICK TO THE STATUS QUO. Or the (awfully cute and hopefully legal) lead girl who thinks she’s the best singer… or shall we say, the most FABULOUS who WANTS IT ALL, THE FAME AND THE FORTUNE AND MORE!

And don’t get me started on the fact that both the Glee club and the High School Musical clique contain a never-called-gay-but-totally-gay kid and a sassy black chick. I would have added Spectacular to this list, but the Spectacular black chick was more clumsy, not as sassy.

Oh, wait, that’s one difference, Glee has an Asian chick. High School Musical features no Asians whatsoever. I guess We’re All In This Together as long as We’re not from China, Japan, or Korea. Where’s Brenda Song when you need her?

Now I’ve already been told, there’s NO WAY Glee and High School Musical are the same (what’s that, CrixLee?). And I guess you’re right. Like say, for example, Glee features the star of the football team who decides he’s going to play football as well as sing. That IS different. Unless you change “football” to “basketball” then change “sing” to “sing.” That straight up Troy Bolton, yo!

This is no way to diss Glee because I highly enjoyed it. This is to give more street cred to Zac Efron, Gabriella and the gang. Yes, it’s Disney, and if you hate THAT aspect of High School Musical, then fine by me. We agree to disagree. But if you go “I HATE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL BECAUSE ALL OF THAT SINGING AND DANCING!” but then go “I LOVE GLEE BECAUSE OF ALL THAT SINGING AND DANCING!” then I think someone is not listening to their inner Sharpay Evans.

I guess we’ll have to wait for future episodes to see if the case of Glee works at a summer resort or makes it to the big screen. And by wait, I mean WAIT. Yeah, FOX, good idea trying to sell a show by showing the 1st episode in May and the next in OCTOBER. Let’s see if that works well for the YouTube gimme-now audience. Oh that reminds me, GIMME-NOW!

And for those of you that STILL think they aren’t cut from the same cloth… we’ll see what you say when High School Musical 4 puts Corbin Bleu in a wheelchair.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch the online series I created, Soul and Son, which is nothing like Undercover Brother, or to a lesser extent, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, or to an even lesser extent, Sanford and Son.

See, I make fun of myself to show no heart feelings. That being said, if you like Glee, don’t hate on the HSM.

But you can still hate Camp Rock. I’ll allow it.

The first is from a while back on a series called Dick Nobody. Dick is a private detective that looks for abstract lost things (like losing time or your virginity). For me, I play Two-Bits, a rapper that has lost my rhythm. What follows is the worst cover of “The Real Slim Shady” ever, race humor, gender issues, and the first freestyle rap to mention the movie Yentyl.

The second is a recent release of Durrty Dav. Durrty is a thug that wants to gangsta rap, but just also happens to be good with IT stuff. That’s real pimp, playa. I play Aggravated Assault, a rapper who just got out of prison (hard to believe) and still lives with his mother (easy to believe). Oh, and did I mention I strip at the end? Ah, that’s not important.

Will there be more cameos of me in other Comedy Time productions? Only time will tell…

There’s nothing better than auto-tuning, that unique sound effect done by Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, T-Pain, and Lil Wayne. Wait, I guess it’s not unique if they all do it (not to mention Zapp & Roger did it years before them).

Twice a year, the Southern California Classic Collectors (SC3 for short) host a classic video game party, complete with tons of old school arcade cabinets. We’re talking Dragon’s Lair. Burgertime. Space Ace. Professor Pac-Man??? I didn’t even know it existed… and now I know for good reason.

7 Prime Zac Efron Saturday Night Live Sketches

This past weekend, Zac Efron hosted Saturday Night Live to promote his new movie 17 Again. So I present to you a list of 7 Zac Efron SNL sketches. Why 7? CAUSE I LIKE PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST! And it’s about Teen Culture! It’s a PRIMATEEN LIST!

Also, because they’re the only 7 available. Two other sketches of the night are hilarious, but are nowhere to be found on… TEH INTERWEB! One was a Later Today spoof with Efron playing Kathie Lee’s son, Cody. Great sketch, but unfortunately led to THIS happening (Hair rollers? Really, KLG?).

The second was the last sketch of the night and it featured Zac Efron, dating advice, and the creepiest foot rub in the history of television. But SNL claims it was the music in the sketch, not the overt foot fetishism, that caused this sketch to not be available.

But I digress. Let’s start this PRIMATEEN LIST of 7 Zac Efron Saturday Night Live Sketches.

The inevitable High School Musical sketch. Also the best of the night. I especially love the cheat-outs and Kenan Thompson’s pronunciation of the word “Troy.” And mega props to Casey Wilson’s dead-on impression of Ms. Darbus!!!

(Nintendo Power) Am I Too Old for DSi?

So the big buzz today in Nintendoland is the release of the new portable Nintendo DSi. And you assume I already have one. Because if you know me, you know I have a Nintendo fetish (like feet, but not as tickly). Well, you’re wrong! I don’t have one yet.

Now I LOVE Nintendo! I waited in GameStops until midnight for GameCube and Smash Bros. Brawl. I conned a friend into trading me their DS for an old laptop. And how can we forget Buy Mii a Wii?

But with all that said, I can’t jump the gun and get a DSi right away. Why? I feel I’m too old for it. Read the rest of my post, and leave a comment if you agree or disagree.

Now, I’m not knocking it, the DSi is posting some impressive features. TWO cameras. Sound recorder. DSi Shop. SD memory. But I can’t make myself drop 170 US dollars on it now, because each feature is something I can already do or don’t honestly need, unless I’m a Twittering Tween (or a Twittering Ashton Kutcher).

Let’s break it down:

Camera. It’s nice, but it’s 2.3 megapixels. My new “SmurfBerry” (which is what I call my BlackBerry Curve) has 3.2. And I don’t think I’m in a position to spend extra money to see what my face looks like with a Mario mustache.

Especially since my “Stan Lee” mustache from Black Nerd LIVE is SO much cooler!

I like the whole camera thing, but how often will I use this? I can totally see a bunch of kids putting Mario mustaches, cat whiskers, and blingees on their friends, and loading them up on TwitPic. But I’m older now. Do I have time to do things like this?

However, I would like to put googly eyes on my income taxes. That would make them more fun.

Music. Now this was the part I was most interested in. I like the whole changing the music thing, including making something sound like an 8-bit game.

But I’m reading you can only save 10 second clips of your voice, and you can’t save the musical changes. I hope this is wrong, because I won’t be happy in life until I hear hip-hop that sounds like Mega Man background music.

Download games. I’ll stick to Wii for that. Well, until I run out of space. And this would be cool if Nintendo had some way to make the games you download on Wii play on DSi. But this is the company that just added talking to their machine, so, oh well. Where’s Animal Crossing when you need them?

Colors. Light blue? Seriously? The black looks nice but the light blue is fugly for a video game system. Unless you’re a Smurf of course.

And my biggest gripe about the new system… no backwards compatibility to GBA games. Hate to break it to you DS, but I think I only own like 2 or 3 DS games. So I don’t know how I would feel having to lug around DSi and my NES limited edition Game Boy Advance to play all my games.

Maybe I’m being too harsh on the DSi. I’d be lying to myself if I say I will never get the system… just can’t fathom getting it right away. Or maybe because I can’t afford it right now, I feel the need to knock it down a peg to stop my urge from buying it on the spot.

I mean, I really do like it. It sounds really cool, but I don’t know what I would do with all of it but go, “Well that’s cool.”

It’s like iPhone and Google Android apps. YES I SAID IT!!! As fun as it is to have some of those, which ones are really convenient? Like someone showed me they can download an app to their phone that gives the image of fogging up their screen. That’s awesome, an app that does something to our phones that we hate having done to our car windows!

So at the end of the day, I guess I just want technology I can use rather than technology that just… does cool stuff. I appreciate it, but I don’t necessarily need it.

And that’s how I feel about Nintendo DSi. It’s cool, and I like it (except for it in light blue). But when it’s all said and done, it’s something you would go to middle school with and say, “Yo, dudes! Check out what I can do with your pic and voice? Extreme!”

And I’m just beyond that, DSi. I’m just beyond that.

Unless you go on sale, of course!

I found some more Buy Mii a Wii “video remixes.” This first one is one of my new favorites. YouTuber Zezzamo does an acoustic guitar version of the song. It’s like how I would sing the song if I was on VH-1 Storytellers. I’ve also found a couple of covers for BMaW (like that?), the video that has over 200,000 VIEWS ON YOUTUBE! Check out the covers, after the Super Mario Jump!

Next up is tararoxursox0, who presents what I would call “THE MOST CUTEST COVER EVER.” These girls are rockin’ it!

And finally, there is wanupgurl, known to my BlogTV folks as JessicaCorey. She’s a frequent visitor to Black Nerd LIVE (are YOU?) and a cool friend. Her remake is great, even if her microphone continuously has feedback.
