I have to admit, I stopped watching Heroes after that lame first season finale, the least of which was how DL died.

The fight with Sylar was what made me throw my hands up in disgust.

And Lost, I can forgive because J.J. Abrams is giving us The Undercovers, which I’m feening for like crack!

AN HOUR LONG DRAMA ON REGULAR NON-CABLE, PRIMETIME TV, not a sitcom… A DRAMA starring *TWO* BLACK PEOPLE.

J.J. can kill every brown person on LOST and I will *still* be doing a celebratory cabbage-patch over this.

We’ve gotten more timid about talking about candidly about racism and we like to pretend that that helps it not exist anymore.

Hey, we’ve got a black president now. Doesn’t that mean all racism has magically disappeared?

I stand up for myself every day in everything I do. My whole website is about that, embracing myself as a black nerd. I can assure you, anybody really trying to fight racism will not be using Lost and Heroes as their examples, ha ha And if you see how detailed I am with the comments of this video, you’d know I actually do like both series. This was done very tongue-in-cheek, and while I understand your anger, I don’t know if this is the thing to be angry about. But I do appreciate your comments.

Which, uh, isn’t actually true. Benjamin Banneker was a talented individual, but tales of his exploits have unfortunately been exaggerated.

As for the Family Matters v. Strangers w/Candy display of the “n-word,” I wonder if that might – ironically – have to do with the respective audiences. Since SwC was obviously intended for adults they didn’t have to explicitly show the word because the audience would know what it said. With Family Matters, a child watching with their parents might (mercifully, albeit unlikely) not know the word. Clearly you wouldn’t want to have the kids turn and ask, “Daddy, what’s the ‘n-word’?”

With all this being common knowledge, why would someone depict an ordinary black guy hanging by a snapped neck? They had to have known the possible social implications. You don’t start waving the Confederate flag and whistling dixie if you don’t want people to construe that you’re a Confederate apologist or sympathizer. You don’t go around quoting Mein Kampf and wearing inverted swastikas if you don’t want funny looks from the Jewish community. Likewise, you can’t burn a white person in effigy outside the local Shrine of the Black Madonna during Black History Month and expect to get away with “Oh, we were burning a racist in effigy in symbolizing our hopes of eradicating racism everywhere”.

Admittedly some of us play the race card too quick. But when your culture has been subjected to 4 centuries and of racism and slavery, your race develops a sort of sensitivity to it. Go figure.

Movie Mob (the original formula) was a fun, fast paced and well produced show. Movie Mob 2.0 (the “New Coke” version), um… not as good, but all the Mobsters were still great.

I will miss seeing my favorite Mobsters each week. But I guess I can always check out your blog (which I just discovered) for my Black Nerd fix.
