There has been a very funny news report going around that Saturday Night Live quickly needs to find someone to portray Barack Obama in political parodies, since the ONLY black cast member on the show, Kenan Thompson, does not fit the role.

How long has Saturday Night Live been on the air?

At one time they had Tim Meadows AND Chris Rock. Another time, Kenan Thompson AND Finesse Mitchell.

Seriously, after being on for so many years, you’d think they would work up the nerve to have more than at most 2 black people on the show.

And Maya Rudolph doesn’t count.

Because Eddie Murphy was so good in the 80’s, it might have been cute to have your one black guy to stand out for the show, but enough is enough SNL.

More and more, this country is getting to be so deserve. If we’re at the point where we could possibly have a black president, I think we can at least have a more diverse cast on a show that places itself at the top of social satire.

After all, MADtv understands that (by the way, MADtv has a guy on their cast playing Obama, just saying…)

So the question remains, who should they hire? My vote is for Kel Mitchell. Not only to play Obama, but to give us the Kenan and Kel comeback we so truly deserve.
