The Perfect Man is Waiting to Stick It for American Dreams

The thing that’s funny about Hollywood is that you can meet someone who’s a wonderful and strong working actor and not even know it. That’s what happened to me tonight.
I was performing at ComedySportz in Hollywood. It’s a show where two teams play improv games to compete for laughs and points. It’s a totally cool show and you should see it, it’s for all ages. Okay, plug over, back to the story.
One of the games was a guessing game that required me to leave the room. To prove we’re not cheating (cause no one believes in magic anymore), we take an audience member with us.
A young lady volunteered to go out of the room and we stand outside to make small talk.
She introduces herself. Her name is Vanessa.
As usual, I’m a tad nervous, one because I’m still in “show mode,” two because I suck at small talk, and three because this lady is pret-tay.
But she starts making jokes, which proves she’s cool, so we start chatting it up. I tell her about the game that’s about to occur, and then ask what she’s does for a living.
She tells me she’s an actress, and after listening to the way she talked about her career, I could tell she was a real “working” actress (come on, Hollywood people, you know the difference).
So when I started asking her about what I could see her in, she starts naming movies I’ve seen… movies like Stick It and Waiting.
Turns out this lady was Vanessa Lengies, who is not only in the aforementioned films, but can also be seen in The Perfect Man with Hilary Duff, and was the star of the TV series American Dreams.
Not to mention the woman has guest starred on all kinds of TV shows… even Are You Afraid of the Dark? (which gets bonus points from me!)
And best of all, she was so incredibly sweet! She had a great sense of humor, she was totally nice, she complimented me (blush), and was just as cool as all get out.
Must be that Canadian upbringing.
So see, Entertainment Tonight, there are young stars in Hollywood not going all crazy.
I’m sorry, I know you’re not listening to me, you’re too busy digging in Britney’s trashcan.
Vanessa, I don’t know if you will ever Google yourself (cause let’s face it, people, we all do it!) and somehow stumble across this blog, but if you do, it was a pleasure to meet you, thank you for the small talk, and hopefully our paths will cross again soon.
But this is no reason for Raven-Symone to get jealous.
