PS3Since I’ve obviously have been so Wii-happy, I have not thought twice about getting a Playstation 3, and in doing so, had created an unnecessary sort of disdain for the system.

I complained it had lack of titles. I complained all the different re-releases of the system were confusing. I complained that it’s a sting operation to make you like Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.

And then, a Christmas miracle occurred. I got one as a gift.

And you know, there’s something about getting a video game system for free that completely changes your thoughts towards it.

Here’s a pic from a special stand-up comedy performance I did for the CD release party for Unwrapped. It’s a holiday CD by Rogue, a totally awesome group of soulful sisters who can SANG! If you haven’t listened to them yet, you’re way behind in the world of good music (Seriously, they don’t have a single song about an umbrella or lip gloss).

Rogue and Andre Meadows

People, get this album. You can easily listen to it past the holidays, its message and melodies last all year long. Thanks a lot for the stage time, ladies. Keep doing your thing and maybe next time, I’ll see you performing at the GRAMMYs (unless that awards show gets canceled by the writer’s strike, too). I love you, Melinda, Krystle, and (fellow black nerd) Erika.

Today, I received an email from the Head of Programming and Creator Content of Revver.com to inform me that “Ask a Black Nerd” is currently featured on their home page!

Revver Featured

As you can see, I am the first video of the three featured for the day. I could’ve been the main video, but come on, how even can I beat Ninja Babes from Space 2. Yummmmmy!

Thanks for all the support and big thanks to Revver for the honor.

Nora Young

At the end of November, I had the pleasure to talking to Nora Young, who hosts Spark, a tech radio show on CBC Radio (think of it as NPR for Canada). She was doing a special series of the geek stereotype and how the Internet and technology has attributed to finding more geeks who don’t fit the usual geek look and attitude.

You can actually listen to the broadcast online. Here are some links for you to enjoy it:

This classic video game commercial has been floating around on YouTube, and believe me when I say… THIS… IS… AWESOME! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always liked Pole Position, but it’s never been at the top of my video game list. But after watching this commercial, I may have to change my gaming priorities. Someone get me an Atari 2600 quick!
