So it’s been all over the news lately about leaked nude photos of High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. The fact that this was “somewhat” big news proves to me one thing.

More adults watch High School Musical than care to admit.

Now I’ll be honest with you, I’m a Disney Channel nerd. Been that way since the 90’s Mickey Mouse Club remake (Any “Match Point” fans in the house?) What can I say, I had a huge crush on Roque.

And I knew Shia LeBeouf long before Transformers, on a little show called Even Stevens.

But, seriously, other than me, how does anyone over the age of 14 even know who Vanessa Anne Hudgens is if you all so call claimed to have never seen High School Musical?

What, did everyone go see her in the Thunderbirds movie and not tell me?

All this time I thought I was alone in watching Disney Channel Original Movies. But after hearing more people and news broadcasters use phrases like “Zac Efron” or “Ashley Tisdale” or “You are the music in me,” and none of these people have kids, it sounds to me like I’m not the only one watching The Cheetah Girls, Twitches, Halloweentown or The Proud Family Movie on an average night.

I don’t feel sorry for Vanessa. I feel sorry for the disgusting 40-year-old perv who spent all night searching for these pictures after they were announced to be on the Internet (don’t look at me, I’m in my 20’s).

I feel sorry for the suburban moms who are saying she’s a bad example. I say to those moms, before your point fingers at Vanessa, you might want to check your “innocent” daughters’ cell phones, MySpace, or Facebook.

I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

And, of course, I feel sorry for the media, news, and Pat O’Briens of the world who made this “news” when it clearly wasn’t. All it was was a teen girl doing a teen thing and learning a teen lesson in technology and backstabbing.

It could’ve happened to anyone… except me. I put all my photos of me nude in a password-protected folder… or on “Hot or Not,” I can’t remember which.

But I’m glad this story has come and gone. And even though unpaid lawyers, co-star relationship splits, and HSM3 contract negotiations help creep Vanessa’s name into the news every once in a while, luckily another celebrity has stepped in to take over the spotlight and make us forget this ever happened.

Isn’t that right, OJ Simpson?
